It can be as simple as sending a text. The hard part is committing to listen.
Your friends and family who served in the armed forces, especially those who saw combat, often struggle on days like Memorial Day. From survivor's guilt to memories of fellow service members who were lost in combat or after coming home, our veterans face so many unthinkable challenges.
When our nation enters into war, each of us has a responsibility to those who have volunteered to secure our freedoms.
This weekend, we encourage you to live up to that responsibility by reaching out to those who served and may suffer in silence on this somber holiday.
Make sure to have the Veterans' Crisis Hotline number (800-273-8255 press 1) on hand and know other resources that may be available in their communities that you can connect them to if necessary.
